With stricter fuel standards BMW faced a challenge to not sacrifice power. It would go against everything BMW stands for and that's just not an option. So, how did BMW solve this dilemma?
BMW turned its focus on the BMW M5 V10 engine. As you might know the fierce engine was planted in the last-gen BMW M5. Given its affinity for petrol, however, BMW has decided to make an upgrade. Instead of replacing it will an engine of the same magnitude BMW will fit the new 2012 BMW M5 super sport sedan with something even more powerful. So, not only is BMW keeping their promise not to compromise power. They're raising the benchmark!
The specific engine BMW is planning to replace the V10 with is a twin-turbocharged V8. It promises to deliver 10 percent more power than the outgoing V10 engine and up to 30-percent better fuel economy.
The more powerful and efficient 2012 BMW M5 will premier this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in Germany. It's expected to arrive at BMW dealerships (i.e. Weber BMW located at 7171 N Palm Ave. Fresno, CA), sometime next year. Stay tuned for a more exact ETA, coming soon.
